The US-supervised process between Kurdish representatives and the Damascus administration has reached its conclusion. SDF commander Mazloum Abdi announced that the organisation had dissolved itself as an independent military force. Speaking at the People’s Palace in Damascus, Abdi said that the SDF’s integration into the Syrian army had been completed in accordance with the agreement.

Noting that they reached an agreement with the Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham -linked President Ahmed al-Sharaa, Abdi announced that they declared the mission of the SDF to have ended, stating that a new era has begun in Syria. Abdi said, “Today, we are closing an important chapter in Syria’s history and opening a new one centred on peace, stability and national reconstruction.”

Abdi stated that they wish for SDF members to contribute to the reconstruction of Syria in the next phase, using the expressions: “We want this to mark the beginning of a genuine transition from battlefields to reconstruction, from the era of weapons to the era of peace, and from defending Syria to building it.”
